With over 50 plus exhibitions under her belt, Ashley A. Jones is a seasoned professional artist. Her art focuses on the complexities of identity and the social dominance of inter-group discrimination. Jones' work is in the collection of the National Afro-American Museum & Cultural Center in Wilberforce, Ohio, and has been exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. Ashley A. Jones holds a BA in studio arts from Central state University in Ohio and an MFA in drawing from Indiana University in Pennsylvania. Jones has taught as an adjunct drawing professor and has given numerous talks and lectures on her art and her research on colorism. Currently, her work explores the psychological and social impact colorism has on women and girls within the African-American community. With this body of work Jones aims to both recognizing and creating new understandings and conversations about how our culture views and approaches Black women, their physical appearance, and how society defines beauty and its standards.
