Jones’ art has evolved over time to give a visual narrative on the identity and experiences of Black women. Though Jones’ work is primarily portraiture and figurative drawings, her overall aim is to tell a story and give a critique of all forms of discrimination and oppression among women in the African-American community. Jones continues to push new boundaries in her work’s subject matter and remains mindful of the challenge of not stereotyping the moment, but rather capture it in all its glory and its faults.
